We'll Get There, Too

Last Saturday we drove 2 hours to western NY to attend Hickory's grandparents' 65th anniversary party. In addition to the many old, young, and no-so-young people in attendance, there was good food, Laurel's 150 cupcakes with incredible chocolate toppings (I ate two), a marriage proposal that almost didn't happen (they were on the last flight out of Washington before the big weekend snowstorm hit there), a mistaken coat with a wallet (Hickory's) lost and found, and lots of fun celebrations.

"Wow, we'll never catch up with those numbers from parents and grandparents," my sister Patty said when we chatted on-line today.

Well, we could, I pointed it out to her, if we lived to be 95. As matter of fact, Patty married her husband Dominic "young," shortly after graduating from college. So they actually have a few years on us!

Of course, this is all very theoretical because it's so hard to see that far ahead. But then, every journey begins with a small step. I am sure I couldn't imagine the second photo when the first photo was taken only a very short year and half ago!

(Yup, that's the same rocking chair, outfitted with custom cushions made by Nancy in the bottom photo).
